Canadian Red Cross

Ready to support communities, with help of eCommerce strategy

The Canadian Red Cross is an humanitarian organization. The Red Cross team helps people and communities in Canada and around the world in times of need and supports them in strengthening their resilience.

The Red Cross is developing an online learning hub to support training, host an online product catalogue, distribute materials to individuals within Canada, and perform inventory tracking. This initiative is part of the Opioid Harm Reduction project which aims to reduce opioid poisoning harm in Canada, focusing on underserved communities, as well as rural and remote locations.

Mandate

LMS (Teachable) integration, and a seamless connection with Shopify

The Canadian Red Cross mandated Novatize to help them improve their LMS user experience and  streamline the ordering process for naloxone kits in Canada.

To do so, the Novatize team had to review the user journey and create a proper connection between their Shopify platform and their Learning Management System (LMS) Teachable.

Goals

User experience and efficiency

The opioid crisis is a growing challenge in Canada and there is a need to make naloxone kits more easily and efficiently accessible for Canadians. In order to do this, the navigation must be highly efficient to make ordering simple. However, there are several regulations that must be considered in the process. That is why the experience must be personalized and customized. It is very important to provide all the information and training needed to properly administer naloxone.

Results

Working as a team to help Canadians

The first challenge was to find ways to work around the LMS’ customization limitations. The team had to develop custom features on top of the Teachable platform, as well as finding ways to improve the overall user experience of the courses. Working in symbiosis with the Red Cross team was crucial in order to incorporate business logic and maximize value, all within a short timeframe.

The project continues and the Canadian Red Cross team is moving on to the next phase with Novatize.  The team is now working on making the naloxone ordering process as seamless as possible from course completion (LMS), all the way to checking out on Shopify. Integrating complex business logic and validations are key elements of this second phase of the project. The online courses and ordering system related to the opioid crisis will be available soon. This will allow the Novatize team to support the Canadian Red Cross in its mission to help Canadians.
