What initiatives contributed to sustainable development at Novatize in 2024?

At Novatize, we firmly believe that our growth must be aligned with our commitment to sustainable development. Every year, we closely monitor our impact through key indicators that enable us to assess our progress and optimize our actions in favor of a more responsible future. Discover the impact of our efforts to minimize our environmental footprint, promote ethical practices and contribute positively to our community. Since the founding of the sustainability committee at Novatize in 2019 and since BCorp certification in 2023, it’s important for us to be transparent about the actions we take and their impact on our ecosystem.
Our positive impact on the environment
Since 2022, Novatize has been offsetting the carbon footprint generated by its employees’ journeys to the office by planting a number of trees equivalent to its CO₂ emissions. With almost half of the team located in Montreal, it was even more important for us this year to offset the carbon emissions produced by each and every team member.
As part of our commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, 93 trees will be planted across Canada to offset the carbon footprint associated with travel. We also encourage sustainable modes of transport, whether by foot, bike or public transit, and offer total flexibility in the choice of workplace (hybrid, remote or face-to-face).
The Novatize team is also encouraged to adopt simple everyday gestures to limit its environmental footprint. In the workspaces, waste sorting, such as composting and deposit, is promoted. All employees are also invited to take part in various internal initiatives, such as the Earth Month challenge.

Inclusive and collaborative governance
Collaboration and inclusion are part of our daily routine. Two collaborative days are organized each year to encourage exchanges and co-creation between teams, while our 10 monthly meetings keep everyone aligned on objectives and ongoing projects.
We have also set up a working conditions committee to give us a clearer picture of our team’s real needs, the challenges they face and the initiatives they value most. This allows us to adjust and fosters a climate of trust.
Our corporate culture is also built through a variety of events. For example, ice fishing and snow sculpting, painting on coffee cups, outings to the theater, gatherings at the dog park, baseball and soccer tournaments, and so on.
Inclusion and diversity are also at the heart of our values. In 2024, 58% of our employees come from socially and historically marginalized groups, and 41% of our workforce identifies as women. On the management side, 42% of managers come from marginalized groups and 40% identify as women, while 22% of executive positions are held by women.
Giving back and engaging with the community
Novatize believes in giving back to our community and supporting causes that are close to our hearts. That’s why our team volunteered 100 hours of their time and energy to local initiatives.
Also, every quarter we prepare meals for the homeless in the Saint-Roch district. We are also involved with the Ronald McDonald House, cooking suppers for families whose children are undergoing treatment at a hospital in the Quebec City area. The Novatize team is also involved in the digital community, supporting the launch of the non-profit organization Capitale numérique, and presenting conferences on various aspects of sustainable development in the digital sector, as well as on the place of women in the technology industry.
In addition to our commitment in the field, we provide financial support to community organizations that are making a real difference. In 2024, for example, we donated $3,000 to the YMCA to support their inclusion and mutual aid initiatives, as well as $1,000 to Nooé, a Quebec-based company that facilitates online donations to support causes with a social and environmental impact.
Team members are also involved, both collectively and individually, on various boards and committees of organizations. They are encouraged to get involved as part of their job through Novatize’s volunteer policy.

Encouraging knowledge sharing for lasting impact
Change also requires education and collaboration with our customers and partners. That’s why we set up initiatives to raise awareness and share best practices in sustainable development. For the past 3 years, one of these initiatives has been the Women in Digital Cocktail Luncheon, which highlights the issues of inclusion and diversity in our industry. We also publish articles on sustainable development best practices in eCommerce. Finally, we actively participate in community events, notably by attending the various happy hours organized by B Local.

An environment where everyone can grow and flourish
Novatize believes in the growth of its team. That’s why we’ve devoted 5,082 hours to training, because we’re convinced that learning never stops. We also encourage a work environment conducive to concentration and innovation thanks to “Focus Fridays”, moments dedicated to productivity and reflection.
We have also put in place benefits that make a real difference and promote the well-being and balance of our team members. These include the Novatize allowance, flexible working hours and the possibility of choosing where to work (hybrid, telecommuting or face-to-face). We also offer an employee assistance program, concrete policies for work-life balance, and a group insurance plan including mental health services. To promote well-being and personal development, the Novatize team also has access to a digital library of self-care resources.
At Novatize, every initiative implemented in 2025 brings Novatize closer to its ambition of being a responsible, inclusive and forward-looking business model. The commitment of our team, our customers and our partners is shaping a positive and lasting impact. Every action counts, and together we’re building a fairer, more innovative future. Let’s keep moving forward, one action at a time.
